The D&AD awards have now passed and the winners have been awarded their yellow pencils.

Some of my favourites however did not quite succeed like the Wall of Fame, nominated for digital advertising, Illustration for digital advertising award.

2012 marks D&AD’s 50^th Anniversary and to commemorate this they will be throwing their main event of the year in September, a 50^th Birthday Dinner. The evening will highlight the lives and talents that have shaped the creative industries, and celebrate the brands and businesses behind the most iconic design and advertising of the past five decades. The 50th Black Pencils will be revealed and the Yellow Pencil Winners will be honoured.

A laugh a day keeps the doctor away. Easily amused!! :)

How to screenprint:

Here is a step by step guide created by graphic designer Nick Scott on how to do something I love doing and hoped to find a career in had Grays School of Art accepted me. Who knows I may have the potential to be the next Andy Warhol.

My creative talents are at least welcome in the events industry.

This video was made by the Canadian wood pallet and container Association to try encourage people to recycle wood products such as old wood pallets. This topic also known as Love pallet project? has been covered a lot on a blog named Unconsumption. http://unconsumption.tumblr.com/tagged/pallets It features posts from artists and even architects, who have created many pieces similar to what is shown in the video. Some more adventurous than others.

One artists views on how social media has saved the arts.

Animator Paul Heard first started posting on MySpace in 2004 and claims that social media presented struggling artists many opportunities as it allows artists to connect directly with their audiences.

Paul set up a forum called ‘Artwork for Ale’ project to promote his work and receive commission on his unique pieces for prices that could pay for a pint and sometimes resulted in funds over £100 at a time.

He moved on to Youtube and received over 200,000 views in just a few days. The success through social media has even seen him trading artwork for computers with Stephen Fry.

Why Tumblr is my motivation... CLICK ME:

I am not the kind of person who would normally spend hours trolling through images and pages liking everything i have a slight chuckle at but have recently found myself doing just that.

Obviously i have made this for a reason, which is to complete a module. However just like Facebook i find myself using it as a distraction to avoid doing what ever important task i should be doing.

Another reason i use it is to get out of bed in the morning. Waking up to a good laugh at a comedy sketch or quirky animation is better than looking at the time and realizing you have hit the snooze button one too many times.

My other motivation for using this site is to reintroduce myself to art as i used to swoon over it before my college HND sucked all the joy out of it. Yes i loved it that much.

I can see why people create blogs, it takes the strain of a hard day away and lightens your mood. Id suggest for everyone to make one or at least look at some of these:
